PERSONALITY STRUCTURE/SOCIAL ATTITUDES & BEHAVIOUR Sebastian is an extravert and is optimistic about what the future holds for him. He’s outwardly directed towards people and expressing his thoughts and ideas. There’s generally a desire to be sociable and seek the company of others, although there is also some inhibition too which hinders free expression. This could be due to a strong need to conform and to be accepted and respected, especially in a workplace situation. Outside of work or in familiar surroundings, responses are likely to be less formal with a greater readiness to be receptive and responsive. There will be more of an opportunity to relax and enjoy life. He possesses a strong belief in himself and his ability to succeed in life. He is strong-minded and will be assertive when he needs to be, such is his determination to reach chosen goals. This inner strength provides him with the stamina to keep going and to cope with stressful situations. In fact, he is likely to enjoy a challenge so will not stagnate in life. INTELLECTUAL/WORKING QUALITIES Intellectual faculties are well developed with the ability to deal with complex situations and work requiring mental agility. It is likely that Seb will become frustrated and stifled with no challenges of a mentally stimulating nature. He has many ideas sparking off, although there is a danger of thoughts becoming crowded in their quantity and becoming muddled. Seb is ambitious and desires achievement and recognition. These qualities provide him with the ability to respond positively to opportunities. He possesses leadership skills which are based on a voluntary acceptance of authority combined with self-confidence and tenacity of purpose. This means that he can be decisive and firm when needed which provides him with the ability to take immediate action. However, there are occasions when he can be a bit inflexible. This is because unexpected changes can take him by surprise and he needs time to adjust. Correct appearances are important, so he is careful to pay attention to detail and to ensure that the end result is accurate. He is generally appreciative of aesthetic arrangements and can be accomplished in visualising illustrative material and producing art forms. Group involvement at most levels is preferred and there is the ability to motivate others by conveying knowledge with enthusiasm. Potentially, communication skills are good; there is the ability to convey ideas, concepts, orders, instructions concisely and lucidly to a variety of people. However, there are times when he feels restricted and his viewpoint is not freely expressed, so information may not always be passed on. Integrity and authenticity are important issues here. There’s a commitment to fair play, truth and professional ethics. Others can rely on him to be hardworking, consistent, follow rules and to be punctual. SEB’S REPLY I was a bit sceptical about providing a sample of my handwriting but I was amazed how accurate the analysis was to my own character. A few things didn’t sound like me but in general Joyce’s analysis was almost perfect. This technique has certainly got potential for interviewing purposes. It would be ideal for preparing questions prior to an interview, or, I now believe, even help you to decide between two candidates. It could help you construct your own CV and it would be interesting to do this again in the future to assess any changes in my character! Overall, a very enjoyable experience. Out of 20? Eighteen.
